Admissions for non-U.S. citizens

The Landing School encourages men and women from around the world who are interested in training for careers in the international marine industry to apply for admissions to The Landing School. Every year The Landing School trains international students from countries as close to the U.S. as Canada and as far away as South Africa, South Korea, England, Brazil and beyond.

Applicants who are not citizens of the United States, including resident aliens, usually attend The Landing School using “Non-immigrant Student” status and require a non-immigrant student visa in the M-1 category. M-1 is a category designated for international students who attend a vocational school.

If you are enrolled at The Landing School under the M-1 status, The School will send you a “SEVIS Form I-20.” This is a “Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant Students” that certifies your enrollment. It also certifies that you have sufficient financial resources to attend The Landing School. This information is required by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service.

You must send documentation to The Landing School that verifies you have the financial resources to cover the cost of tuition, program fees, tools, books and estimated living expenses. Documentation may be a letter from parents, a financial guarantor or other responsible party who is providing the funds; or you may send documentation from your bank verifying that you have the funds on deposit. The letter must also identify the source of the funds. After we receive this documentation, we will complete the “Form I-20” and send it to you. You must present the “Form I-20” to officials at a United States embassy or consulate when applying for a student visa.

Please read our International Cost of Attendance form for more information, and contact an admissions representative with your questions.
